News & Announcements

Dear Community Partners,

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Natalie Alvarez as the Acting CEO of the Greater Phoenix Urban League (GPUL), effective immediately.

Natalie’s career with the GPUL spans more than 30 years, including the last eight years as our Chief Operating Officer. Her journey began as a Head Start teacher, and she has remained steadfast in her dedication to supporting children and families, a commitment that aligns directly with our mission to serve Phoenix’s most vulnerable populations.

Beyond her internal leadership, Natalie has served on the Executive Board for the Arizona Head Start Association for over two decades and is a proud Executive Committee Member of Head Start West. Her deep institutional knowledge, unwavering passion for our mission, and proven leadership make her the ideal person to guide the organization during this transition.

As we look to the future, we are currently launching a national search to identify our next permanent CEO. We are committed to a transparent process that will involve the National Urban League, our key stakeholders, and members of the community. Providing stable, consistent leadership remains a core tenet of our work, and we are dedicated to maintaining that standard throughout this transition.

Thank you for being an essential part of the GPUL family. We deeply value your ongoing support and partnership, and we welcome your continued engagement as we move forward together.

In Community and Deep Partnership,

The Board of Directors
Greater Phoenix Urban League
